Padel Court in Meyyafushi Maldives

A perfect fusion of luxury vacations and sports innovation

Meyyafushi Maldives is poised to capture the world's attention. This new luxury island, meticulously crafted by the renowned Maldivian resort team behind Fushifaru Maldives, is slated to open in October 2025. A key attraction of the resort is the world's first overwater padel court, ushering in a new era of tourism in the Maldives.

Amidst the breathtaking beauty of the Indian Ocean, guests will have the opportunity to experience an unprecedented level of athletic enjoyment – swinging their padel against the turquoise waters and gentle breeze, listening to the rhythmic crash of the waves. This is more than just a sport; it's an ultimate experience in harmony with nature.

UNIPADEL Design and Construction: Accomplishing the Impossible at Sea

As the design and construction team for this project, the UNIPADEL team undertook this challenging offshore project. From transportation to installation, every step was honed with our team's expertise and perseverance. Because the court is built on an offshore platform, all steel structures, glass, and court materials had to be hoisted and transported at sea via dedicated transport aircraft. The high humidity and salinity of the marine environment place extremely high demands on the corrosion resistance of the materials.

To this end, UNIPADEL employed a custom hot-dip galvanizing solution using seaside processes:

  • All columns and frames were welded and polished from high-strength carbon steel;
  • The structural surface was hot-dip galvanized for corrosion protection, followed by a zinc-rich epoxy primer;
  • Finally, two coats of high-performance anti-corrosion spray were applied to ensure long-term resistance to sea breeze and salt spray.

The entire installation process lasted several days, and the team overcame numerous challenges, including strong sea breezes and an unstable construction platform, to successfully complete the installation. Today, the classic blue UNIPADEL water padel court is officially operational.
